Usability Research & Assessment

Challenge: My team and I sought to evaluate the usability of IHPI’s directory page. Through multiple research methods, we were able to understand the target population and provide insights and actionable recommendations.

Methods: Interaction Map, Competitive Analysis, Semi-Structured Interviews, a Survey, Heuristic Evaluations, and, due to COVID-19 circumstances, remote Usability Tests.

Role: UX Researcher

Timeline: ~ 15 weeks (January - April 2020)

Impact

As a result of this study, IHPI made the following changes to their website:

  • Removing redundant links such as duplicated twitter and home page buttons

  • Moving ‘Michigan Experts’ (a feature important to users) to more front and center and enlarged

  • Added a description to ‘Michigan Experts’ to show it contained publications of the user who’s profile it was on
